Sharper than a sword

The word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
The question "Who am I?" is one that follows you through your existence. Everything that you do flows from your identity. Even though often we have at least some questions about our identity, if not outright doubts, the Word will show you who you really are.
Open the Word of God and let it penetrate your thoughts.
It is too easy to become very self-centered and focused on your own way of seeing and doing things. Getting to know God's Word gives you a more objective criterion and baseline for your thoughts. Gandhi said once:
Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.
Let the Word of God penetrate your thoughts.
Open the Word of God and let it explain your emotions.
Sometimes you feel sad and sometimes you feel happy. Reading through the Bible, you will encounter men and women going through a great variety of real-life situations. They reacted in many different ways. A good study of the Bible will teach you to react and to put your emotions in the right place, subject to reason.
Open the Word of God and let it shed light on your decisions.
Men and women of the Bible made good and bad decisions. The Word of God shows how this played out in salvation history. There is no bad decision so powerful that God's grace cannot arrive, but many people do exclude themselves from the love of God by their own choice. What will you do to live always within God's plan for your life?
The Bible is a testament to God's love for us and gives witness to his revelation. Get into it, and it will get into you.
