St. George - slayer of dragons

Christian art depicts St. George slaying a dragon. Not much is known about him since he hails from an age between fantasy and history. Nevertheless, he reminds us that every Christian is called to do battle with the devil. May we be ever victorious, as St. George was.
The legend of St. George does not mean he was not real. He lived in the latter portion of the third century and gave testimony to Christ under the emperor Diocletian.
He gave his life for Christ and is the patron saint of England.
We celebrate his liturgical memory on April 23.
St. George, pray for us.
